War Veteran Robbed of Bingo Prize Outside Club

Lee Binns, an eighty six year old war veteran, spoke to the news regarding an attack on him after winning £1 000 at the Mecca Bingo Club in Oldham. The elderly gentleman was targeted when he was leaving the club at about 9pm. He was just walking a short distance to where his friend was parked to give him a lift home when the incident occurred. He is deeply shocked and upset by the lack of security on the part of the bingo club.

Mr. Binns said that he had been a member of the bingo club for twenty years and has won on a few occasions. This time, he claims that we was not given the option of having the money paid over to him in  a back room and the money was paid out to him over the counter where everyone could see, and he doesn’t believe that this was the right thing to do.

Even though Mr. Binns was being met by a friend as soon as he left the bingo club her was attacked from behind, the person attacking him went straight for the pocket that contained his bingo winnings and stole it. He suffered a head injury from the attack and said that at his age, this is not the kind of thing he wants. I would say that at any age, no one would want this!

Mecca bingo has a policy where they can offer a cheque instead of cash, the also arrange taxi fro winners if this is necessary, but in this instance the gentleman had already organized a lift home.
