What you might ask is this? Well two entrepreneurs in Denver the US have come up with a new form of online bingo. They call it Obama Bingo and the aim of playing the game is to give $1 million to charities and save 1 million trees by 2009. Now Obama bingo is probably quite apt as I don’t know if you know, but his stepmother lives in the UK and plays bingo in her local bingo hall every evening with a friend.
Basically what these two guys wanted to do was find an innovative and interactive way of engaging online consumers. So they dreamed up Obama Bingo and players purchased a commemorative bingo ticket online. Chose from a list of charities that they would like to donate to, and there were more than 100. Then bingo players had to watch Obama Barak’s commemorative speech and as he says the words on the bingo ticket, mark them off. The first person to mark off the card and get BINGO won and those funds went to the charity of their choice.
Now I have seen it all, I have seen bingo used to teach Japanese students elementary English, car bingo for children on long boring trips, the any number of bingo games available online, cow pat bingo and even B/S bingo for the boardroom. But this version of bingo has certainly tickled my funny bone and lightened up my day. And what a worth cause, imagine saving 1 million trees by 2009, it will certainly make for a greener planet, and what better game to achieve this than bingo.
