Grandmother Wins Nearly ₤250 000 Playing Bingo

The High Five Gala Bingo game has proved very lucky for an Irvine grandmother, but not only lucky for her, lucky for all the other members of the club also. As you may or may not know, when the Gala High Five pays out, the winner gets half of the prize and the other members in the club receive equal shares of the balance of the prize money. This makes everyone a winner and spreads the wealth around quite substantially. A total of ₤486 728.11 was won and the women who has asked to remain unnamed, took home ₤247 364.05, while the other 216 players at the bingo club during her win, each took home ₤1126.69 each.

The duty manager of the Gala Bingo Club in Irvine, Sandra Mullen, said that this had been a record win for the  club and she also mentioned that most bingo players there didn’t like the idea of the High Five at first. I am sure that 216 plus 1 players disagree with this now! The fact that everyone is buying into the game now is proof of this.

Personally I believe that Gala Bingo has hit on a “winner” but the proof of the pudding is in the tasting, and when Gala Bingo pulls out of the National bingo game at the end of August, I wonder if the High Five will be enough of a draw card at their land based clubs to get the bums into the seats?
