Unibet has announced that it has acquired Maria Holdings. Maria Holdings is a Malta based company that is owned by the Swedish company Maria Invest AB.
Although not a done deal, the new acquisition will allow Unibet to offer online bingo to its customers. Maria Holdings owns various online bingo sites through its subsidiaries, including Mariabingo.com, Carlospoker.com, Mariocasino.com and other sites. Under the terms of the agreement all of the holdings of the parent holding company will be restructured as part of Maria Holdings.
The price of the deal is ₤54 million and is to be transacted in cash. Unibet will finance the deal through issuing bonds or through borrowing through bank credit. Maria had ₤2 million in operating profit for the first three quarters of 2007.
Unibet is an online gambling establishment that already offers casino and poker to its customers in addition to sports betting and other gambling activities. It is known as one of the top gambling establishment and serves primarily the male market. They also offer mobile gambling for their clients. The Swedish based Unibet is one of the largest gambling operations in Europe and hopes to strengthen its market position with this deal.
